Putin and Russia warned about Ukraine for a long time, but America did not listen
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated on more than one occasion that Ukraine joining NATO would most certainly trigger a nuclear conflict with the West, as it would put weapons right on Russia’s borders. Some of his most serious threats were from 2018, yet few in the American media gave it much thought. The thought of nuclear war seems so outlandish. Russia’s campaign in Ukraine was planned well in advance by Putin, the current military conflict was years in the making.
A look at the map below shows why Russia would be concerned if Ukraine would become a member of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
American media largely ignore news from Russia, the threats from Putin are rarely televised in the USA, he is simply labeled an evil man, then forgotten about. We let the intelligence agencies handle that and go about our lives.
Putin delivered a very strong threat to Europe and America in 2018:
If NATO attempts to deploy new bases and military infrastructure near Russia’s borders.
“We will respond appropriately to such aggressive steps, which pose a direct threat to Russia,” said Putin.
This is a hint at a nuclear conflict, American media has always dismissed the threat of a Russian nuclear conflict, they deem Putin’s word as empty threats. The problem is the map, looking at the map one could get an idea as to why Putin chose to act on Ukraine now.
I in no way support Russia or Ukraine, I do not support any wars anywhere; yet a quick look at the map shows how Ukraine joining NATO could put us all on a path towards a nuclear conflict.
When Russia put weapons in Cuba during the 1960’s it almost triggered World War 3, President Kennedy viewed it as a direct threat to the USA. Putin is viewing Ukraine joining NATO as a direct threat to Russia, his threats should not be ignored.
